One can either learn to support himself/herself with his/her own resources, or always be in need of the assistance of others.

I often feel guilty for not working, or doing something of value.
You have to put in a full day’s work to get a full day’s pay.
DID YOU KNOW? The first hit record for Berry Gordon’s Motown enterprise was:
“Money (That’s What I Want)” sung by Barrett Strong (released August 1959).
- The best things in life are free
- But you can give them to the birds and bees
- I need money (That’s what I want)
- That’s what I want (That’s what I want)
- Your love give me such a thrill
- But your love don’t pay my bills
- I need money (That’s what I want)
All human affairs are incapable of remaining as they are; they must either rise or fall.
When the winds of change start blowing your way…
DON’T WAIT for ideal circumstances.
“Stop saying ‘When things settle down…’ Do it now! ‘One of these days’ is really none of these days.’” ~Rick Warren, author of The Purpose-Driven Life
A little bit of money goes a long way sometimes.

Never live beyond your means. This will eliminate most of your self-imposed burdens.
Money is a steady friend—it travels about from hand to hand.
No complaint is more common than the scarcity of money—don’t have the wherewithal to acquire it, nor credit to borrow it.
You run about everywhere to borrow, but everybody says they have none to lend.
With men of little resources, every opportunity is precious to them.
The rules of the game resemble those of the market, equal chances and fair play for all.

Using What You Have
“Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe…. So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, ‘Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence?
For the money has failed.’ Then Joseph said, ‘Give your livestock, and I will give you bread for your livestock, if the money is gone.” ~Genesis 47: 13-16
Realities are ever-changing; they adjust to social-material circumstances.

Rock Bottom (Wynonna Judd, 1994). This is my theme song. Whew! This is an affirmation I like to sing until I can feel it down in my soul. And, Wynonna sings it passionately.
When you hit Rock Bottom, You’ve got two ways to go
Straight up, and Sideways
I have seen my share of hard times And I’m letting you know
Straight up is my way
Things are tough all over, But I’ve got good news
When you get down to nothing, you’ve got nothing to lose
I was born naked but I’m glory bound
And a dead end street is just a place to turn around
When the sky is the limit up on easy street
Rock bottom ain’t no place to be
Rock bottom ain’t no place for me. No, no…

Financial literacy is the foundation of building wealth. If you fail to understand the role of money and how it works in the world, it’s virtually impossible to secure your financial future. Unfortunately, financial knowledge is absent in the education system. ~Eric McWhinnie, Is America the Land of the Financially Illiterate?

What we perceive as basic needs are merely aspects of greed. Basic life necessities are: water, shelter, sleep, food, warmth.
“Oh, for the love of money and air conditioning.” ~A Brooklynite
Everyone has far more desires and wishes than he/she can ever satisfy.

It’s amazing how life spins itself, and how things transpire.
Sometimes, I’ve got more dollars than I’ve got sense.
I can travel coast-to-coast, and still find butter and toast. And, I’ve been told that fields of grain can be found in every corner of the globe.
I’m issuing myself a promise note—an I.O.U.

From early morning’s dawn to evening’s fall, a working man strives to gather wealth as best as he may. And, he should be respected for that.
The earth is a great workshop; the arsenal which furnishes both means and material of labor.
“You’ve just changed my financial state of mind.” ~Barry, Storage Wars
How long of a distance is there between one’s present state and one’s ideal state?
I’m in control of this powerhouse of unlimited intelligence, creativity, and possibilities. I don’t need Aladdin and his magic lamp.
Our minds can conjure up the worst, but we can’t seem to imagine the best for ourselves.
Why do we do this to ourselves? We are our own worst enemies.
Your actual success, therefore, can only be earned by the sweat of your brow, not by sitting on your rear-end dreaming, self-talking and visualizing.
This means that you have to actually do something to put these things into action.
Waiting For A Change
Do you still sit and do nothing, or do you put the wheels in motion for your expected change?
You won’t find answers in the air when all of the clues are on the ground.
“Seek and ye shall find.”
I’m here in paradise looking for that pot o’ gold, on a remote stretch of road, on a cliff with a billion-dollar view.
It was a sight to behold, and stood out like a brightly lit Waffle House on a foggy night.
Well, I always did hear that the Lord will provide.
My belief is firm in a law of compensation. The true rewards are ever in proportion to the labor and sacrifices made.
Your level of living depends on your level of giving, and the type of seeds that you sow.

Are We in the Prosperity Period?
I thought that stood for peace, prosperity, city life, country houses, and a high standard of culture and material comfort. Did I miss out on the prosperity period? Where was I?
SURPLUS—when it is not needed, it can be reserved; and when needed, can be deployed. There are three kinds of surplus: a base surplus, a floating surplus, and a future surplus.
The problem with base surplus is its instability with respect to the future.
Future surplus is the surplus that is anticipated to be required in the future in order to maintain equilibrium, or prepare for future expansion.

Perceptions and Beliefs That Shape Our Behavior
Our perceptions or beliefs, arguably, shape our behavior.
Humans do not always rely on their rationality in making judgments and decisions.
A picture might be worth a thousand words, but it can’t tell you it’s all good like it should.
The tricky part is figuring out what’s valuable, and what’s fool’s gold.
When having it all isn’t enough
And there’s nothing new to do
Being king ain’t what it’s cracked up to be
It’s loaded with burdens and responsibilities
Nothing is more pleasing and rewarding than good old-fashioned hard work.

“In all labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty.” ~The Book of Proverbs 14:23
There Is No Such Thing As a Free Lunch
Everything, even what is seemingly free must be paid for by somebody in some way, and there is no sense in hiding that fact.
Give and Take
The more you give, the more you get.
The more you love, the less you fret.
The more you do unselfishly, the more you live abundantly.
The more of everything you share, the more you’ll always have to spare.
The more you love, the more you’ll find that life is good and friends are kind.
For only what we give away enriches us from day to day.

There is no other way children can repay parents for their love, care, and protection except through love and respect.
“My poor parents! They always worry about having enough money to take care of us.
Someday I’m going to earn money to pay all their bills.
Then I will take care of them!” Louisa May Alcott, a famous writer of Little Women.
Everyone has daydreams, but for most people these dreams are never related to their everyday life. There is a disconnection between fantasy and reality.

No man is so perfect that he hath never temptations, nor can we ever be wholly free from them.
Yeah! Oh yeah! Ooh ooh yeah!
Feels good, feels good!
Just got paid, it’s Friday night
Party huntin’ and, feelin’ right
Body shakin’, all around
No one thinks when I’m gettin’ down
Check the mirror, I’m lookin’ fly
Round up the posse, jump in my ride
Radio rockin’, a monster jam
Feel the rhythm, pump up the sound!
I’m feelin’ so good…
Just got paid; it’s Friday night…
There’s no one to blame when you are caught in the cords of your own foolishness.
It’s like gambling; you have to know when to stop.
Lost a dream, the big dream, never had a solid bougeois life, it was like the weekly lottery.
There was always the dream of winning the $100,000.
If you were poor, you dreamed with the slot machines.
Last Two Dollars (Johnnie Taylor)
Casino Gambling: Play For Fun Only
Casino gambling should not be considered a way to make money.
While it can be a thrilling form of entertainment, keep in mind that a player cannot influence the outcome of traditional slot machine play through any decision-making strategy.
Each spin of the wheel or roll of the dice is considered an independent event, meaning that the chances of a specific outcome remain the same and are not influenced by previous events.
Slot machines are not any more or less likely to hit a jackpot just because they haven’t hit in a while.
There is nothing a player can do—no ritual and no lucky charm—to influence the outcome of any casino game.
Because the odds always favor the house, the longer or faster a person plays a casino game, the more the person should expect to lose.
In the same way, the more a person wagers, the more the person should expect to lose.
Play for fun only, and stick to playing your budget.
With Online Gaming available 24 hours a day, it is even more difficult to because you have easy access via the internet 7 days per week.
With self-isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, boredom may tempt you to play more often than usual.
Thus, the odds of losing more than you expected is even higher.
If you’re staying at a resort for a couple of days, pre-arrange your daily cash playing allowance in envelopes (one for the morning, one for the evening, or whatever).
Once you’ve played that allotment, QUIT and walk away.
Go for a long walk outside, grab something to eat, go take a nap or something.
Do not linger around the casino, or you will be tempted to over-play your budget.
“The Gambler” (Kenny Rogers)
You’ve got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table
There’ll be time enough for counting when the dealin’s done
There are times when people should not gamble. Certain emotional states can heighten the risk of gambling.
Avoid gambling of any sort when feeling lonely, angry, depressed or under stress, or when coping with the death of a loved one.
Similarly, gambling should not be used as a way to solve personal or family problems, or to impress others.
People should only gamble with money they can afford to lose i.e. spendable monies available after all bills have been paid, or monies saved specifically for the purpose of taking a trip to a gambling town.
Borrowing money to gamble is a very bad idea.
Borrowing money from friends, relatives, or any other source with the intention of repaying with gambling winnings is always, always a very bad idea.
The risk of losing is way too high. The risk of winning is way too low.
The games of chance are based on random outcomes and always favor the casino.
“Life ain’t nothing but a gamble—a long shot; it’s taking risks. It’s been playing a numbers game on me all my life; I’ve been playing the odds, hoping it’ll all work out in my favor.” ~Unknown

The ancient Egyptians knew how to mine gold and how to make things out of it.
DID YOU KNOW? The two best-selling and longest-selling board games are Monopoly and Scrabble. Both games were created during the Great Depression era of the 1930s.
Charles B. Darrow, an unemployed engineer in Pennsylvania, created the high-stakes, buy-and-sell real estate game of Monopoly during his days of unemployment and discontent.
Alfred Butts, unemployed and bored in New England, created the challenging board game from crossword puzzles, which he originally named Criss Cross.
Both games had a rocky start with the game manufacturing firms belief that they would be a short-lived fad. Oh ye of little faith!
