Kamala Harris Raleigh North Carolina Presidential Campaign

August 16, 2024. Madam Vice President Kamala Harris arrived in NC for her 8th trip this year. She spoke to supporters about her campaign’ economic policy agenda. Her talk focused on supporting the middle class and bringing down costs.

“As President, I’ll work to pass the first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food. My plan will include new penalties for companies that exploit crises and break the rules. And we will support smaller food businesses that are trying to play by the rules and get ahead.”

“I’m building an economy where everyone can compete and have a real chance to succeed. Where everyone, regardless of who they are or where they start, has an opportunity to build wealth for themselves and their children.”

“My plan to lower costs and expand opportunity for working and middle-class Americans.”

Kamala Cares For Us

If you want to know who a politician cares about, look at who they fight for. Donald Trump fights for billionaires and large corporations. I will fight to give money back to working and middle-class Americans.

Donald Trump wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, on which 45 million Americans rely for health care. We’ve come too far to let that happen.

I grew up in a middle-class household. For most of my childhood, we were renters. When I’m elected President, I will make it a top priority to bring down costs and increase economic security for all Americans.

As the price of housing has gone up, the size of down payments have gone up as well. Even if aspiring homeowners save for years, it often still isn’t enough. My administration will provide first-time homebuyers with $25,000 to help with the down payment on a new home.

There’s a serious housing shortage. As President, I will work in partnership with industry to build the housing we need. By the end of my first term, we will end America’s housing shortage by building 3 million new homes and rentals that are affordable for the middle class.

Harris’ strength among working-class voters and growing interest from Red and Blue States could push her to victory. She has a proven track record of supporting policies like banning medical debt from credit reports and expanding childcare tax credits to give people the financial room to breathe.

Unions are a reliable and vital component of the Democratic Party’s voting bloc. UNITE HERE’s support for the vice president came after AFL-CIO and the United Auto Workers backed Harris. The two unions have roughly 13 million members across the United States. Last month, Harris clinched the support of the American Federation of Teachers, the country’s second-largest teachers’ union.

Small Businesses

Small businesses are the backbone of our communities. “In order to grow America’s economy, we must invest in workers, we must invest in families, we must invest in institutions and we must invest in our businesses. Our small businesses are part of the fabric and culture of our communities. Our small business leaders are not just business leaders. They are civic leaders. They are community leaders. They hire locally. They mentor. They inspire. And when we talk about the strength of our nation, all of those attributes are a part of growing our strength. Together, we will continue our work to advance economic opportunity and build an economy where every American can thrive.

Kamala Harris says, “We have work to do, and an election to win. Ours is a people-powered campaign. Help us build it. Are You Ready?
